We .NET daily on large workstations, servers and other high power devices. For most of us, the lowest power device we’ll ever target still has memory measured in gigabytes and processing power in GHz. The .NET Micro Framework (NETMF) is Apache licensed open source software now in version 4.2, created and run by Microsoft, but with significant community contributions and a large device ecosystem. With memory measured in KB or sometimes even a few MB, and processing power well under what we’re used to, there’s a lot we can learn about coding efficiently, while having fun and using our.NET skills to create some really cool stuff.
