Use Visual Studio regularly but haven’t kept up with its recent updates? This demo-focused session explores improvements through everyday .NET development tasks, with an emphasis on working in existing codebases.

We’ll look at editing and navigating code, debugging, testing, and working with Git. Rather than treating each improvement as a separate release-note item, we’ll follow development tasks and show how the updated tools fit into that work. We’ll also explore where GitHub Copilot can help and when using the IDE tools directly is the better choice.

This is a broad catch-up tour, not a deep dive into any one feature area. It is aimed at developers already comfortable with everyday .NET development in Visual Studio who want to decide which updates to try in their own projects.

You will learn:

  • Use recent editor and navigation improvements to work more effectively in an existing .NET codebase.
  • Use updated debugging, testing, and Git capabilities in everyday development tasks.
  • Distinguish tasks suited to GitHub Copilot assistance from tasks better handled directly with IDE tools.
