It’s slogging through thousands of lines of code to find that one wrong thing in seemingly endless databases. It’s realizing the build is broken by other developers’ code as we’re trying to get our own code to work. It’s long hours and constant demands that can make us feel completely ineffective – and that’s when burnout can set in. Burnout isn’t a new problem in software development, with high-performing developers burning out in a blaze of glory. However, it doesn’t have to be this way. In this session, you’ll learn what burnout is, how to recover from it, and when its warning signs start appearing. You’ll learn ways to both stay productive and feel effective doing the work you enjoy.

You will learn:

  • Understand the factors that lead to burnout
  • Identify activities and perspectives that reduce the incidence of burnout
  • Synthesize interventions that will discourage burnout in your organization
