Before the arrival of cloud providers, firms were often keeping the bulk of their data in on-premises data centers, which hosted servers running database systems such as SQL Server and MongoDB. In a modernization effort, it can be necessary to move the data centers to Azure, if possible with minimum downtime and minimum headaches... In this session, Laurent Bugnion, a Cloud Advocate for Microsoft will help you understand what data options are available on Azure, and learn to know migration options with demos, both for unstructured data (files, blobs…) as well as for databases (SQL and NoSQL). We'll use a new managed service called the Database Migration Service to migrate an on-premises MongoDB database to Azure Cosmos DB and an old SQL Server system to an Azure SQL Database with minimal downtime. You will come out of this session with a deeper understanding of data on Azure, and what benefits you can get for your modern applications.
You will learn:
- Discover data options in the cloud, both for unstructured and structured data
- How Azure helps you in the different phases of the migration to the Cloud
- How you can move your data to Azure with minimal downtime and maximal efficiency
