Testing is a well-established concept in software development. The community broadly supports and promotes the practice of writing tests. Despite this, a significant amount of production code still lacks proper testing. Even when tests are written, developers may struggle with writing them effectively or understanding how specific testing frameworks function.

This workshop provides an in-depth exploration of testing in .NET. It covers a variety of testing frameworks and their unique capabilities, the role of mock objects, and the benefits of mutation testing. Attendees will see demonstrations of frameworks used for testing front-end applications, as well as recent changes to the underlying testing platform and their implications. Tools that assist in generating tests for existing code will also be highlighted. The session concludes with practical guidance on writing effective unit tests and strategies for introducing tests into legacy codebases.

He has 30 years of experience working on a number of business applications using a diverse set of frameworks and languages. He is the author of ".NET Development Using the Compiler API", "Metaprogramming in .NET", and "Applied .NET Attributes". He has written numerous articles on software development issues and has presented at a number of conferences and user groups.
