You may not be doing it now; but, you will be doing it. It’s just a matter of time. Silverlight and all the “XAML family” of technologies are not only the future of the Microsoft Application development stack, they are the present. But, where do you start? It’s very intimidating and can be very frustrating. This session is designed to get you started and to get you effective as quickly as possible.

Silverlight is the most quickly adopted technology in Microsoft developer history. It’s in the browser. And it is not just any browser; it is cross platform. And now it’s on the Windows Phone 7. And it’s going to continue appearing in devices and platforms. You might not be doing it now, but you will do it eventually. You will be building rich internet applications (RIA) in Silverlight. It is just a matter of time. Silverlight adoption is soaring and with a compelling version 4, it appears to be the dominate player in the .NET stack for years to come.

This session was designed as an introduction to Silverlight to get you over that big learning curve (that has frustrated many) and well on your way to building great applications in Silverlight.

For instance, you’ll learn how to use the Expression Blend to augment Visual Studio. In this session you’ll learn a number of tools you will be using like tools from the Expression Suite and some XAML design, syntax and rendering tools.

When you walk away from this session, not only will you be on your way to building your own Silverlight applications, but you will be able to download the source to the Silverlight reference application that is used heavily in the demos of the session.

You will learn:

  • That Silverlight is the next generation of UX technologies for the web
  • How to get incredible productivity from Visual Studio & the Expression Suite through demonstrations of the tools needed to be successful
  • What can be done in this next generation of software apps
