HTML and JavaScript are well-known for building Web applications. Within the last few years, though, more toolkits for building "native" mobile applications using those same tools have emerged. It can sometimes be tricky to figure out when which approach to building a mobile application is more appropriate. In this session, you'll examine some of the more popular HTML/JS mobile app development toolkits, and how to build one using the granddaddy of the genre, Apache Cordova, a.k.a. PhoneGap.
You will learn:
- An overview of several of the HTML/JS-based mobile toolkits
- How to experiment with Apache Cordova
- When to (and when not to) use them
