It's hard to have a discussion about cloud computing these days without talking about containers. The technology and tooling are maturing, usage is growing, and there are a lot of concepts you will need to learn. This session will get you started. You will learn what containers are and why you might use them. How do they compare to VMs? Why are there Windows and Linux containers? Where do containers run? How do you run them in Azure? What are Docker, Kubernetes, Orchestration, Container Registries, Microservices, Azure Service Fabric, Azure Container Services, Azure Container Instances and how do they fit into the container landscape? And what is Visual Studio doing to make this easier? At the end of this session, containers will make sense and you will be able to start learning how to develop and deploy them.
You will learn:
- What containers are and why/when/how you would use them
- About more advanced topics such as registries and orchestration
- How to run containers in Azure
