Microsoft Office Online (formerly Office Web Applications) were once configured and managed as a service application in SharePoint 2010. Now they're configured and managed differently in SharePoint 2013 and 2016. Office Online is now created in an Office Online farm, which lets you create a universal Office Online environment that can host multiple SharePoint farms, as well as communicate with Skype for Business and Exchange servers. The farm lets you users create, edit, and share content using browser-based versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Furthermore, you can configure Office Online to enhance the user search experience by providing a document preview or thumbnail that is viewable from within the search result set. This session will discuss how and why you will want to implement the Office Online and the many benefits of doing so.
You will learn:
- What is Office Online and how it integrates with other Microsoft products
- How to prepare for the deployment of Office Online
- How to integrate Office Online with SharePoint
